Building Disrupt the Trap
There are moments when you realize you’ve been living a philosophy long before you named it.
Disrupt the Trap is one of those things for me. I didn’t sit down one day and decide to build a brand. I was already doing the work…teaching in my community, riding in spaces I wasn’t expected to occupy, advocating for what’s right even when it’s uncomfortable. At some point, I needed language for that.
When I say “the trap,” I don’t mean just one thing. Sometimes it’s literal. Sometimes it’s systemic. Sometimes it’s the grind you’re told to be grateful for even when it’s breaking you. I’ve moved through all of it.
I’m writing this here because this site has always been a record of my movement physically, creatively, and mentally. I have videos on here from Vogue, from riding, from different chapters of my life. Writing feels like another way to leave a trail I can come back to later.
This is where my head is right now.
Disrupt the Trap Manifesto
Disrupt the Trap is not about rebellion for spectacle.
It’s about interruption with purpose.
The trap is anything designed to limit access, silence voices, or keep people cycling through systems that were never built for them.
Sometimes it looks like the block.
Sometimes it looks like a 9 to 5.
Sometimes it looks like an industry that profits off culture but excludes the people who create it.
As a special education teacher in a Title I school, disrupting the trap is daily work bridging gaps created by systemic neglect, advocating for students whose needs are treated as liabilities, and teaching in the same community that shaped my brother, and is now shaping my son.
As a minority woman in street riding culture, disrupting the trap means showing up in spaces that were never meant to include us and refusing to dilute skill, presence, or voice to be tolerated. It means honoring the roots while expanding what the future looks like.
Disruption is not destruction.
It’s accountability.
It’s access.
It’s representation without permission.
Disrupt the Trap exists at the intersection of education, culture, and community.
Disrupt the trap is about showing up consistently, skillfully, and respectfully as a radical act where systems are built to overlook us.
This brand is proof that you can move through institutions, streets, and industries without losing yourself.
That the trap doesn’t define you…your presence does.
Respectfully.
